General Information:

1.  Are martingale collars just for greyhounds?

Even though martingale collars are the recommended collar for greyhounds/sight hounds, they work "greyt" for ALL Breeds.  Martingale collars are also known as the "humane choker" or "gentle choke" collar.  Because the choke effect is gentle to the neck but effective, the martingale collar is great for training.  More & more other breeds are enjoying the comfort, reliability, and durability of martingale collars.  If you would like to see some of the breeds that are using martingale collars, check out the Photo Gallery.

2.  How do I clean or care for a Trendy Hounds collar?

Make sure to remove ALL tags.

Place the martingale collar and/or leash in a laundry bag, knotted pillow case, or lingerie bag.  Wash them on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent and air dry them.

If your dog has scratched the collar causing some loose threads, you can run a lighter very quickly over the threads to singe back the snapped threads.  NEVER do this while the collar is on the dog and keep your lighter moving when you do it!!!!

Regular Collar Inspection:

  • You should inspect your dog collars frequently for signs of potential problems.

  • Even though every Trendy Hounds collar is made with your dog's safety in mind, chewing and scratching can damage even the strongest of seams.

  • You should frequently check the collar to make sure it has not loosened up over time.  If you're not sure what the proper fit of the collar should be click here.

  • Buyer is responsible for proper use and care of product(s) purchased from this site and proper supervision of their dog(s).
